The Bishop ordinarily celebrates Confirmation for our parish in the fall of 9th grade. We will announce that date as soon as we know it. The preparation process begins in the spring of the 8th grade year and it outlined as follows:
Preliminary Meeting and Paperwork (to be completed by April 30)
- Attend Kick-Off Meeting in the spring semester of 8th grade year (Sunday, TBA, 10:00-11:00 AM in the upper Cardinal DiNardo Center at Saints John & Paul)
- Register for Confirmation (includes completing StrengthsExplorer assessment and submitting Top Three results)
- Choose a Confirmation Saint.
- Choose a sponsor and have them register here.
Sponsors not from Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish will need to obtain a sponsor form from their home parish as well.
Diocesan Confirmation Curriculum (to be completed by June 15)
- Attend the six-week course with a parent or sponsor, offered:
- Sundays 10:00-11:00 AM from April 28-June 2 in the Cardinal DiNardo Center at Saints John & Paul Church
- Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 PM from April 30-June 4 in the Cardinal DiNardo Center at Saints John & Paul Church
- Virtual Classes—a series of pre-recorded videos delivered via email
- Candidates do not need to commit to one of these options and can mix and match as needed
Formative Experiences (to be completed before the Confirmation Mass)
- Attend a retreat and/or LifeTeen events. Email Nick at [email protected] for more information.
- Complete a Service Experience (click here for our Outreach opportunities)
- NOTE: There is no hour requirement, and so you are free to construct a Service Experience that fits your comfort level.
- Submit a Letter to the Pastor by October 1.

What Info Do I Need for Each Form?
Confirmation Registration Form
Candidate's full formal name, age at the time of Confirmation (assume November 2020), church of baptism with mailing address, date of baptism, family mailing address, legal father and mother's full names with mother's maiden name, parent refelction (What is your hope or vision for your child after s/he receives Confirmation?), Confirmation Saint Name, and Sponsor name.
Sponsor Registration Form
Sponsor's first and last name, email, phone, and parish; Candidate's first and last name, family's email, and parish. -
Confirmation with Special Circumstances
Adaptations for Candidates with Special Needs
Confirmation may be celebrated privately in the Grotto Chapel or in the main church immediately before the large group celebration. We can also arrange special seating during the large group Mass.

Adult Confirmation
If you are an adult who is looking to be received into the Catholic Church and to be confirmed, contact Karen Walker at [email protected] or (724) 935-2104 x223 to learn more about the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults program.
Eligible Candidates have completed 7th and 8th grade Faith Formation, including Catholic Vision of Love. If you have not completed these, you will need to meet with a Staff Member to discuss an appropriate type of formation plan prior to Confirmation. -
