The Saint Luke Men’s Club is dedicated to helping the parish and community while promoting fellowship and love for Christ. Fundraising events, volunteering for special projects, and providing support for worthwhile causes to promote fellowship within the parish are the main goals of the Men’s Club. It’s a great way to help the parish and meet others at the same time! The leadership of our club consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, all of whom work cooperatively with members in planning, organizing, and directing activities and functions supporting the mission of the Church. The election of officers occurs annually and officers are limited to two consecutive one-year terms. We do not charge dues or fees for membership. Instead, we ask our members to volunteer their time to activities and events that we sponsor. Thanks to the generosity of your fellow parishioners, the funds raised through our activities allow the Men’s Club to provide financial support to four categories of parish and community programs and activities: Education, Building and Grounds, Missions and Charity, and Church and Sacraments. One of our more visible programs is the annual Men’s Club Scholarship program, which provides scholarships to outstanding graduating high school seniors. Our activities support the needs of the parish in a variety of ways, including our work with other parish groups such as the Vacation Bible School program, High School Youth Ministry, and other parish-supported programs and activities. Although our efforts in these activities are important, our primary focus is our relationship with Christ. Our meetings begin and end with prayer and the spirit in which we approach our endeavors remains focused on Christian principles. We openly and willingly accept the teachings of our Catholic faith and strive to practice those teachings in our daily living.

We invite you to join us at one of our meetings. They are held on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM. At the meetings, we discuss upcoming events and how we can assist the parish. If you are unable to attend the meetings, but would still like to be a member, we will put you on our contact list and keep you up to date on events and meeting information.

The Men’s Club has a lot of social activities throughout the year. Family sporting events include a Robert Morris University hockey game in February and a Wild Things baseball game in spring or summer. We have spring and fall cookouts along with at least two Steeler football game parties. There is also the Men’s Club Golf League. We’re always looking for new ways to spend time together and with our families.

High school seniors who are entering college and belong to the parish are given the opportunity to apply for a $1,500 scholarship. Applications are reviewed by members of the Scholarship Committee at the beginning of May. Scholarships are awarded based on parish activities, non-parish volunteer activities, an essay, recommendations, and awards.

The main fundraising activities for the Men’s Club are two raffles, which are held in the spring and winter of each year. The raffles give each parishioner the opportunity to win a prize worth thousands of dollars. All of the proceeds from the fundraising activities go toward parish related scholarships and activities.

The Men’s Club has historically sponsored numerous “famous” pancake breakfasts throughout the year. With the availability of a new kitchen in the CDC, more opportunities exist for other venues than just our famous pancakes. The Men’s Club also sponsors our Lenten Fish Fries, while working with other parish groups for volunteers and fund raising,

The Outreach Committee reaches out to both parishioners and people in need. We also sponsor care packages, which are sent to high school seniors during their first year in college.

At each meeting, we begin and end with a prayer. It is our faith and our belief that continues to strengthen us to be the best we can for Christ. The Spiritual Committee is responsible for providing prayers for meetings and informing the group of events and religious opportunities.

The Wellness Committee seeks to provide information and opportunity for Men’s Club members and all parishioners for a healthy lifestyle. As part of a parish-wide commitment to exercise, the Men’s Club is sponsoring parish-wide cycling. We invite all parishioners, family, and friends to join us on a new trail each month. The opportunity to get some exercise while meeting others within the parish is a great feeling!
